Definition:

Human resource Management, simply known as HRM, is the management technique of recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing and managing the other affairs of the workers in any organization.

Strategic HRM Definition:

Strategic HRM is a planed framework of procedures for hiring, developing and managing the human resources of the organization for gaining the long term benefits and goals.



Concept of Strategic HRM:

It is very important to make strategies for the human resources of the organization. By creating a comprehensive and planed framework to control the human resource of the organization we can get the objectives of the organization. Strategic HRM is the approach of the high level management to hire the committed work force and deploy the work force in an efficient ways to get competitive advantages and achieve the objectives. The human resource management involves different techniques as;

v  Personnel techniques:

§  Includes; hiring, promoting and rewarding the employees according to performance.

v  Structural techniques:

§  Includes;    the design of the organization and the division of labor.

v  Cultural techniques:

§  Includes;   Developing a culture which is best suitable for the workers and motivating for do more and get more.

The purpose of strategic HRM is also to align the focus of HRM with the focus of the business. So, strategic HRM is all about achieving the business goals through smarter human resource management. When the things are pre planned and every of the personal is well aware of the objectives and how to get these objectives, the working environment of the organization will be smoother and efficient. There are many things to be remembered at the time of the strategic planning and formulation. Social diversity of the labor, individual behaviors, ageing of the population of the current market and religious thought are special settled in organizations working internationally. The strategy might be modified according to the conditions and environment of the sub country.

An efficient strategy of Human resource management must:

v  Aligning HR activities

v  More emphasis on data

v  Creating a Human Resource strategic plan that follows the business

v  Don’t forget HR’s other responsibilities

v  Taking an outside-in approach

 

Aligning HR Activities:

            The strategy must be aligned with the current HR activities and it must be realistic. The HR activities must be followed by the HRM strategy vice versa, the HR Strategy must be followed to HR activities. The labor and managers which are being hired must have practical experience according to the objectives and activities they have to perform in the organization.

More Emphasis on data:

            It means that the HRM strategy must be data base. The Human resource management must have experience to grass root level and planning must be done on the actual working conditions.

HR strategy must follow the business:

            It is the key thing to remember that the main purpose of the HR strategy is to follow the business goals. A success full strategic HRM gains the competitive advantages to the organization and support the business to tackle in every kind of problems.

Don’t forget the other responsibilities:

            While making the strategy of Human resource, the HR management should not forget the other HR based responsibilities. The HRM strategy must be suitable to their other responsibilities.

Taking an Outside-in Approach:

            The strategic HRM is effective if it gives a good look and attracts from outside as well. The market must have interests and positive thoughts about the organization by having a look on HRM strategy.
